Chinnaswamy Stadium loses the IPL final to Narendra Modi Stadium in a shocking move.
In a twist that’s left Karnataka cricket fans reeling, the BCCI has decided to shift the IPL 2026 playoff matches from the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The KSCA is about as happy as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, expressing their disappointment loud and clear.
KSCA spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjaya didn’t hold back, highlighting that Bengaluru had hosted six league-stage games for the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with rave reviews for crowd management and overall experience. They believed they were more than ready to host the playoffs, given the smooth execution of earlier matches.
Despite KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad’s continuous communication with the BCCI, the decision to move the playoffs remains a mystery. "We respect BCCI’s authority, but it’s hard not to feel a bit robbed here," Prasad’s sentiments echo the frustration of every RCB fan who was dreaming of a home final.
With the playoffs set to kick off on May 26, cricket fans are left wondering how the IPL could snub a venue with such rich cricket history. Will Ahmedabad deliver the same electric atmosphere? Let’s hope so!
