Punjab Kings skipper faces the music following a sluggish innings against Gujarat Titans.
In a twist of IPL drama, Punjab Kings' captain Shreyas Iyer has been slapped with a hefty INR 12 lakh fine for the team's slow over-rate during their face-off against Gujarat Titans. This penalty comes after PBKS struggled to stay on track during Match 4 at Mullanpur Stadium on March 31.
Iyer’s fine marks his first over-rate offence of the season, but it’s a reminder that time waits for no one in T20. The slow over-rate resulted in PBKS needing to keep an extra fielder inside the circle for the final over, a costly move that allowed GT to exploit the situation. Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, unfortunately, had a rough time, conceding 12 runs, including four wides, in that crucial over.
With the IPL heating up, Iyer will need to rally his troops and ensure they stick to the clock. Can Punjab Kings bounce back and rectify their sluggish pace? Only time will tell, but the pressure is on!
