Manoj Tiwary Calls Out Tewatia's Struggles After Titans' Heavy Defeat

Tiwary demands changes as Gujarat Titans face batting crisis in IPL 2026.

After a crushing 99-run defeat to the Mumbai Indians, Manoj Tiwary has had enough of Rahul Tewatia's underwhelming performances. Tewatia, who famously hit five sixes in a single over back in IPL 2020, now finds himself under scrutiny for his lacklustre form, scoring just 49 runs in six innings this season. Tiwary isn’t holding back, suggesting the Titans must consider dropping him or fellow struggler Shahrukh Khan, who has managed only 35 runs in four innings.

"People have forgotten the magic of Sharjah. Now, it's all about recent form, and right now, it’s not good enough," Tiwary emphasised during a Cricbuzz discussion. Mohit Sharma, another former player, echoed Tiwary's sentiments, stating that the team missed an opportunity by sending Tewatia in as an Impact Player instead of Anuj Rawat when they were in dire straits.

But Tewatia isn't the only one facing the heat. Glenn Phillips, who has yet to find his rhythm for the Titans, has also come under fire. With a mere 67 runs from six matches at an average of 16.75, Tiwary suggested that the Titans should consider bringing in Jason Holder to shake things up. It’s clear that the Titans need to rethink their strategy if they want to turn their season around. Will they make the necessary changes before it's too late?
