Lungi Ngidi’s freak head injury sent shockwaves through the Delhi Capitals camp during their clash with Punjab Kings on April 25. While attempting a catch, Ngidi misjudged his backpedal, hit his head on the turf, and left everyone holding their breath. Coach Hemang Badani was on the ground when it happened and recalled the chilling moment when Ngidi was unresponsive to basic commands. "We were all panicking," he admitted.

The situation escalated quickly, with Ngidi stretchered off the field as the game halted for around 10 minutes. Thankfully, medical scans later revealed that the injury wasn't as severe as initially feared. Badani praised the physio for ensuring Ngidi was swiftly taken to the hospital, a critical move that likely prevented a worse outcome.

Returning to action against CSK on May 5, Ngidi managed figures of 1/30 in four overs despite his scary ordeal. Currently, he stands as Delhi's second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2026 with eight wickets, showcasing resilience after such a traumatic incident.

As the Capitals gear up for a crucial match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 9, they'll hope Ngidi can continue to deliver and help steer the ship in their playoff chase.
