Ashwin Hails Priyansh Arya as Future Star of Indian Cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin has thrown his weight behind Punjab Kings' opener Priyansh Arya, claiming he’s the next big thing in Indian cricket. After Arya's stunning 93 off just 37 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants, Ashwin believes Arya is a step ahead of fellow young guns Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre.
On his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, "I’m not comparing anyone, but Arya has a wider range of shots and the knack for scoring big runs. He’s certainly caught my eye more than the others." Arya made his IPL debut last year, but he’s taken his game to dizzying heights in 2026, racking up 211 runs in just five innings at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 248.24.
Sooryavanshi and Mhatre are no slouches either. Sooryavanshi has been smashing runs at 236.54, while Mhatre was also off to a solid start before a hamstring injury cut his campaign short. With Arya leading the charge, the future of Indian cricket looks bright. Can he keep the momentum going? Only time will tell!
